Text Box: So you found your soul mate and have decided to spend the rest of your life together??  CONGRATULATIONS!! NOW THE FUN BEGINS! You’ve picked your facility, did all your invitations, figured out your seating arrangements (remember to keep Grandma & Grandpa away from the entertainment area!!), picked your floral designs and set up the menu..!!  YOU’RE ALMOST DONE!! Now it’s time to start planning  your entertainment. This is the single most important part of your wedding reception. Do you want a live band, or a Disc-jockey? Well, that’s up to personal preference however, let’s take a look at the Pro’s & Con’s of hiring a live band versus a Disc-jockey:

First, we'll look at what a live band has to offer.....

Live Bands...

...have a very limited music selection that will most likely have you changing, or settling for, different songs for your most important dances, and don’t usually take requests because any given song may not be something they know how to play.

...will take numerous breaks throughout the evening resulting in “dead air”, and can empty a dance floor in a heartbeat.

...will perform versions of their “limited” library that may not be very recognizable to you and your guests.

...have a very hard time controlling their volume level. It is almost impossible for a live band to play at a level that’s comfortable for everyone, especially our elders. They can’t monitor their sound levels from the stage area.

...have difficulty acting as “Master of Ceremonies" (MC). Live musicians are limited to their "stage area” resulting in very limited movement throughout the evening. The Maitre De cannot approach whoever is acting as MC in the middle of song to coordinate the next event of the evening.

...have an enormous investment to protect. Bands generally cost hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of dollars more than a Disc-jockey. Don’t forget, there are several musicians in a live band and they have to be fed too!

An Experienced Disc-jockey...

...will have tens of thousands of songs or more, readily available to be  played at a moments notice, and will usually take any, and all, reasonable requests.

...will not take a single break! The music never stops and if it does, it’s only briefly for the organization of ceremonious events such as cake cutting or garter toss etc...even during dinner, easy listening music will be played in the background!

...will have a library consisting of  ALL ORIGINAL MUSIC from the ORIGINAL ARTISTS that everyone is familiar with!

...will always monitor the volume level and will be constantly walking around doing “sound checks” throughout the evening to ensure a comfortable level at all times! You may even catch them at times joining in the festivities themselves!

...WILL BE your “Master of Ceremonies” PERIOD! This is the single most important responsibility of a Disc-jockey. To coordinate the entire evening with you, the Maitre De, and the photographers, handling all announcements and introductions! A Disc-jockey is completely mobile using a wireless microphone throughout the entire evening, so they can be wherever necessary at any given time. Your Disc-jockey is never unavailable because they are in the middle of a performance.

...will cost HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of DOLLARS less than the average live wedding band, even though their responsibilities are far greater than a live band! There are usually only one or two people involved with a Disc-jockey.

We hope this information helps you to decide on what type of entertainment is the right choice for your reception. Whatever your choice, we wish you many, many years of health and happiness together in your new found life...

God Bless.
